Mike Stammel, a Rensselaer County legislator and long-time member of the Capital District Regional Planning Commission, was elected and installed as the new Chair of the four-county regional body at the agency’s Wednesday meeting held at the Commission’s offices off Wolf Road. He succeeds John A. Graziano, Jr.
Other Officers installed at the meeting were Clifton Park Town Supervisor, Philip Barrett, as Vice Chair; Attorney and Niskayuna School Board member, Barbara Mauro, as Secretary; and Commissioner Willard A. Bruce as Treasurer. All officers serve a one-year term.
CDRPC was established jointly by the counties of Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady in 1967. Its mission is to promote sound and coordinated land use, economic development, and healthy environments within the Capital Region through various studies, plans, and policy recommendations.
The Commission is also charged with carrying out regional projects that serve the common interests of member counties and their municipalities, such as the 24-bed Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility located in the Town of Colonie and the administration of the Combined Sewer Overflow project in Albany and Rensselaer counties.
The regional data bank created and maintained by the Commission is the central source for demographic and economic data for the Region and its municipalities, much of which is available to the public through the Commission’s Web Site ( http://cdrpc.org ).

The Capital District Regional Planning Commission was established as a regional planning board in 1967, by and for Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady counties. It performs a wide range of activities, including comprehensive planning, aviation system planning, economic development planning, human resources planning, and technical assistance and information services for the Region.
