New Officers (l-r): Fred Acunto, Treasurer; David Vincent, Chair; Lucille McKnight, Vice Chair; & Stan Brownell, Secretary
“I am very pleased and honored to serve as the Chair of the Commission,” stated Vincent, a CDRPC board member since 1982. Vincent is serving as Commission Chair for the second time. “This is a critical year in the history of CDRPC as the agency is carrying out Regional programs to address many emerging development issues. Of course, our immediate challenge is to find a replacement for our Executive Director, Chungchin Chen, who is retiring in June.” Chen has headed the Commission staff for the past 23 years.
CDRPC was established jointly by the counties of Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady in 1967. Its mission is to promote sound and coordinated land use, economic development, and healthy environments within the Capital Region through various studies, plans, and policy recommendations.
The Commission is also charged with carrying out regional projects that serve the common interests of member counties and neighboring municipalities. One of the recent successful projects planned and implemented by the CDRPC is the establishment of the 24-bed Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility located in the Town of Colonie.
The regional data bank created and maintained by the Commission is the central source for demographic and economic data for the Region and its municipalities, much of which is available to the public through the Commission’s Web Site, http://www.cdrpc.org.
