Philip Barrett, Clifton Park Town Supervisor, was elected and installed as the new Chair of the four-county regional body at the agency’s Wednesday meeting held at the Commission’s offices off Wolf Road. He succeeds Mike Stammel.
Other Officers installed at the meeting were Niskayuna School Board member, Barbara Mauro, as Vice Chair; Commissioner Willard A. Bruce, as Secretary; and Commissioner James D. Shaughnessy, as Treasurer. All officers serve a one-year term.
CDRPC was established jointly by the counties of Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady in 1967. Its mission is to promote sound and coordinated land use, economic development, and healthy environments within the Capital Region through various studies, plans, and policy recommendations.
The Commission is also charged with carrying out regional projects that serve the common interests of member counties and their municipalities, such as the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility located in the Town of Colonie and the administration of the Combined Sewer Overflow project in Albany and Rensselaer counties.
The regional data bank created and maintained by the Commission is the central source for demographic and economic data for the Region and its municipalities, much of which is available to the public through the Commission’s Web Site ( http://cdrpc.org ).
