Planning Commission Revises Foreign-Trade Zone Rates

At its regularly scheduled meeting today, the Capital District Regional Planning Commission unanimously approved a revised Zone Tariff establishing new, reduced rates for operators and users of Foreign-Trade Zone #121 at Albany, NY to encourage greater use of Zone procedures which can provide significant cost savings benefits to the Region’s importers.

The new rates will take effect January 1, 2009, and represent more than a 50% reduction of overall rates from the previous Zone Tariff. The lowest rate, based on space activated by Customs & Border Protection, falls from $6,000 annually to $1,000, while the highest rate declines from $24,000 to $12,500. Importers of dutiable goods should contact the Planning Commission for additional information.
